Enrolment Information

Welcome to South Geelong Primary School. We are excited that your family is considering us as your school of choice. We hope the following key dates and information will assist you in either finding out more about our school community or supporting you through the enrolment process.

Our School Zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school. Your school zone is determined based on your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their local school. Students may enrol at another school if there are available places.

For more information about our school zone, please contact our school. For answers to frequently asked questions about school zones, visit School zones.

Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic).

Our school will prioritise enrolments from:

  • students who live within the school zone
  • students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
  • students seeking enrolment on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.

Depending on available places remaining, our school may be able to accept a limited number of out-of-zone enrolments according to next closest to the school.

The department will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary.

2027 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

Your child can start Foundation (Prep) at the beginning of the school year if he or she turns five on or before 30th April in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday. When to start your child at school is an individual decision. You may want to discuss this with us or with your child’s preschool teacher and health care professionals if you are unsure about when is the best year for your child to begin school.

All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school.

You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027 from Monday 20 April 2026.
